Mobile Gravestone Cleaning in Macomb & Oakland County, MI

Headstones collect lichen, moss, algae and staining that slowly cover the name and dates until they are hard to read. Cleaning them is careful, low pressure work, because stone that has been outside for decades does not take aggressive treatment. We come to the cemetery and do the work on site.

What's Included

  • On site cleaning at the cemetery
  • Low pressure removal of lichen, moss and algae
  • Careful work around lettering and carved detail
  • Base and foundation cleaning
  • Photos of the finished stone if you cannot be there

How We Do It

Confirm the location

We need the cemetery and the section or plot so we go to the right stone. Photos help if you have them.

Assess the stone

Granite, marble and limestone all behave differently, and older stones may have flaking or soft spots that change the approach.

Clean gently

Low pressure and patient work. Growth is lifted off in stages rather than blasted, and lettering is worked carefully so detail is not lost.

Rinse and document

The stone is rinsed clean and we send you photos of the result if you were not able to be there.

Surfaces We Clean

  • Granite headstones
  • Marble monuments
  • Limestone markers
  • Flat grave markers
  • Stone bases and foundations
  • Family monuments

Frequently Asked Questions

Is pressure washing safe on an old headstone?

High pressure is not safe on aged stone, which is why this is done as low pressure work. Marble and limestone are softer than granite and older stones can be fragile, so the method is matched to the stone rather than applied the same way to everything.

Do I need permission from the cemetery?

Policies vary by cemetery, and some have rules about who may work on markers and what may be used. Check with the cemetery office, and tell us anything they require so we can work within it.

Can you clean a stone if I live out of state?

Yes. This is one of the more common reasons people call. Give us the cemetery and plot information, and we will send photos of the finished stone.

Will the name and dates be readable again?

In most cases removing the lichen and staining brings the lettering back clearly. Stones with heavy erosion to the carving itself are a different situation, and we will tell you honestly what we think is achievable before booking.
